Animal Specialty & Emergency Center of Brevard  located in Melbourne, FL is searching for a  Certified  Veterinary Technician  to join our team as a  Veterinary Technician Training Coordinator !

$2500 Sign-On Bonus Structure Available to Qualified Candidates! 

Compensation: $27 - $29/hr, based on experience and licensure.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. 4 ten hour shifts or 5 eight hour shifts.   Working hours will vary based on the training needs of the hospital. This role is requires 80% training on the floor and 20% administrative duties.

As a Veterinary Technician Training Coordinator , your responsibilities focus on the training and development of ASEC team members in all patient care capacities. Duties of your role will include but not be limited to:

  • Serving as a coach, trainer, and mentor to hospital staff. Facilitating training with a focus on direct hands-on clinical skills and/or by a "train the trainer" approach and soft skill training through online learning or practice scenarios, guiding new team members through their first 2 weeks of nurse care training, tracking training modules, promoting a culture of growth and development via positive reinforcement and encouragement while acting as a mentor by exemplifying a positive and professional environment.
  • Partnering with hospital leadership and coordinating monthly meetings to develop and maintain a robust training program and an error documentation log to identify training priorities, that provides support and drives development for the hospital nursing care team, including new and existing staff. Mapping out development plans for teams and individuals with setting goals and measuring progress, while participating in employee performance evaluations.
  • Processing analysis to provide input on current policies and procedures from a quality perspective and then aid in the implementation of new policies and procedures. 
  • Developing and maintaining hospital protocols for all services which meet or exceed the standards of the AVMA, OSHA and Ethos Best Practices, reviewing pharmacy transaction and discrepancy reports, and reinforcing safety standards and proper use/care of equipment.

About You:

  • LVT, CVT, RVT, or VTS license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Veterinary Technician, with ER and/or Specialty Medicine experience.
  • Proficient in basic, intermediate and advanced technical skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in all interactions and transactions, and experience with de-escalation of difficult and stressful client or employee situations in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Capable of championing positive change and driving innovative programs in hospital, must be able to give clear instructions in a positive and encouraging manner.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to a consistently changing environment, with a desire to grow and adapt within the hospital and professional field.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
