Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Product Development Manager to join our team, with a specific focus on utility bedding including pillows, down comforters, mattress pads, and pillow beds. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing and expanding this growing product category, working closely with our design, sourcing, and sales teams to develop innovative and high-quality products that meet the demands of our retail partners and customers.

This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and creative professional with a strong understanding of textiles, fill materials, construction techniques, and current market trends in the utility bedding category.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of new utility bedding collections and product lines.
• Manage product development calendars to meet internal milestones and retailer deadlines.
• Collaborate with internal design, sourcing, and sales teams to conceptualize and refine product ideas.
• Source, evaluate, and approve new materials, fills, fabrications, trims, and packaging solutions for utility bedding.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers and factories.
• Oversee product costing, spec creation, and sample development to ensure quality standards and pricing targets are met.
• Conduct regular market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and product gaps.
• Prepare and deliver product presentations for key accounts, line reviews, and market week meetings.
• Ensure all products comply with safety, labeling, and performance standards for the category.
• Travel domestically and internationally (as needed) for vendor visits, trade shows, and customer meetings.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of product development or merchandising experience within home textiles, preferably utility bedding.
• Strong knowledge of bedding construction techniques, fill types (polyester, down, alternative fills), fabrics, and industry regulations.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with PLM systems a plus.
• Experience working with overseas factories and understanding of import production timelines.
