Senior Manager, Internal & Executive Communications
Temporary (4 months), Onsite - Mission Valley, San Diego Overview
We're seeking an experienced communications leader to support internal and executive messaging efforts for a dynamic and mission-driven organization. This is a full-time temporary assignment (approximately 4 months) based onsite in the Mission Valley area. The role will focus on employee communications, executive messaging, internal branding, and event support, and reports directly to the Vice President of Communications.
Key Responsibilities - Lead internal communications and executive messaging strategies that align with organizational goals and enhance employee engagement.
- Drive awareness around corporate priorities, values, culture, and internal initiatives through clear, consistent, and compelling communication.
- Develop and manage a master calendar for internal communications, providing project oversight across creative and communications teams.
- Track and report engagement metrics to guide strategy, improve reach, and support leadership in meeting business objectives.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and cross-functional teams to create consistent, aligned messaging across internal and external platforms.
- Manage content and cadence for internal messaging channels, including email, video, intranet, HR systems, and digital displays.
- Support executive leadership through crafted content, presentation coaching, and storytelling to reinforce thought leadership and culture.
- Coordinate and deliver internal communications-driven events such as company-wide meetings and leadership forums.
- Work with external communications teams to help raise visibility of company leaders as industry voices and promote employer brand initiatives.
Qualifications - Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in internal communications, executive messaging, or employee engagement roles.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and inspire diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Deep understanding of communication planning, content development, and message measurement.
- Familiarity with internal platforms such as SharePoint, intranet tools, and other digital communication channels.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to think strategically while executing tactically.
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
