Position Overview:

H&P is representing a Houston-based middle-market private equity firm focused on investments in the energy infrastructure assets and utilities sector . Having recently closed their fourth and largest fund , the firm is expanding its investment team and seeking a highly skilled Associate to join in 2025 .

The firm specializes in control-oriented investments in power generation and utility-scale energy systems across the United States , with select international exposure in Mexico and Chile. This is a unique opportunity to gain end-to-end deal experience across a growing portfolio in a dynamic and essential sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investment Sourcing: Support in identifying and evaluating investment opportunities across the energy infrastructure and utilities landscape.
• Financial Modeling: Develop robust, project finance–oriented financial models to assess investment opportunities in power generation and utility-scale energy assets.
• Due Diligence: Conduct detailed financial and technical due diligence, including assessment of debt service coverage ratios (DSCRs) , capacity factors , and plant-level performance drivers.
• Investment Committee Preparation: Create detailed investment materials, including memos and presentations, to support investment decision-making.
• Transaction Execution: Participate in deal structuring, negotiations, financing, and closing processes, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Collaborate with portfolio company teams to monitor performance, support strategic initiatives, and drive value creation.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 2–5 years of investment banking experience , preferably in power, energy infrastructure, or utilities . Project finance experience is a plus.
• Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of how power plants generate revenue , including operational and financial drivers of profitability.
• Modeling Skills: Advanced financial modeling skills with a focus on project finance structures , including long-term cash flow modeling and sensitivity analysis.

Preferred Attributes:

• Direct experience working on transactions involving power plants, utility-scale energy systems , or energy infrastructure .
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Interest in long-term investment strategies and infrastructure asset management.
• Proficient in Spanish.
