Job Description

Our Assistant Head Flour Miller will assist our Head Miller with overseeing the 7500 cwt. Mill department and will lead maintenance in the facility. This individual will direct accountability for maintenance for the Mill, Elevator, Pack, Warehouse and Laboratory equipment. This individual could be eligible for a Head Miller within 2-3 years. This will be a day shift position. This individual will be on call to lead a 3-shift plant operations team. Must be willing to work weekends.

ASSISTANT HEAD FLOUR MILLER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with daily management and supervision of mill and plant production personnel, including Shift Millers, Mill Helpers and Utility team members.
  • Direct responsibility for Maintenance Technicians across all departments.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance plans with department heads.
  • Manage maintenance technicians on call and maintenance schedules throughout the facility.
  • Manage and coordinate the execution of the work order system.
  • Coordinate with department heads on parts needed and or outside contractors, if necessary.
  • Schedule employees, raw materials, and ingredients to ensure productivity.
  • Maintain product standards, equipment accuracy, and calibrations.
  • Handle the purchasing and installation of new or used equipment, tools, and other items needed to perform jobs efficiently.
  • Assist Head Miller in any way deemed necessary to ensure efficient operation of the plant.
  • Work with the QA/QC Lab and QS Management in maintaining a superior product and see that all products conform to specifications.

ASSISTANT HEAD FLOUR MILLER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS education
  • Advanced degree, certifications or equivalent trade is a plus.
  • 1+ years' experience with managing direct reports in milling operations or maintenance is a plus.
  • Experience in grain conditioning/mill operations, feed milling is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work self-managed.
  • Microsoft Office Suite. Efficient in computer operations.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Group and individual safety training is required and provided by the company.
  • Familiar with computerized maintenance/work order systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position requires physical efforts such as straining, pulling, lifting, working, and standing and walking on concrete floor.
  • Exposure to elements such as noise, minable dust, cold and hot temperatures.
  • Extreme climate or climate variation.
  • Heat more than 100 degrees and below freezing temperatures.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards like moving machinery and passing forklifts.
  • Climbing ladders and working in elevated space which may require fall protection equipment.
